Our Lady of Maryknoll, by Fr. William Hart McNichols
Our Lady of Maryknoll,
we ask you to help us understand
that wherever there is suffering,
there, too, is your Son’s loving hand.
He is there in the touch of a missioner,
in the smile of a new friend.
He is there in the prayer of a stranger,
in our faith that knows no end.
Dear Mary, walk beside us
and help us realize that we can ease another’s pain.
We can put hope in a child’s eyes.
Amen.
From a prayer card of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers.
My mother, now 99, was constantly inspired by the work of the Maryknoll missionaries. Was there a prayer at some time in the early 60’s that went
Jesus and his Mother mild
Bring peace to this house
And inspire those who live within
with love for all mankind.
faith be the guiding light
hope the unfailing spring
may charity warm each heart
kindness light up every face
and gentle courtesy prevail
There was a plaque in our home, I wonder if it came from Maryknoll?
