Returned Maryknoll lay missioner Katie Coldwell (Class of 2010), who spent three and one-half years serving in mission in Brazil, shares her experience of accompanying imprisoned women through an urban prison garden ministry, in this beautiful article and video developed by Marquette Magazine (Fall-Winter 2015, pp. 28-31). In the profile, Katie describes her efforts working with the women prisoners saying, “We go in as a catalyst for change. That’s what being a missionary is about.” She also notes the impact that serving in mission made on her faith, “In Brazil, I grew with God in ways I never imagined.”
