Last week was indeed a special one for Maryknoll Lay Missioners. What a wonderful group of new missioners we were privileged to send on Saturday! They are truly a blessing for mission and for MKLM and the entire Maryknoll Movement! The Covenant Ceremony held in the Rogers Chapel on Dec. 12th was an inspirational time of sharing the Mission Covenant of the nine new Maryknoll Lay Missioners. Since it fell this year on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, she was celebrated as well.  Executive Director Sam Stanton brought a rose to put in front of her image and hymns were sung in her honor.
Despite a snow storm, family, friends, and members of the Society and Congregation gathered on the 14th for the Sending Ceremony in the Queen of Apostles Chapel at the Society.  It was a beautiful celebration.  Betty Ann Donnelly, a returned missioner from the Class of 1980, delivered a very inspirational talk.  She and her husband, Phil Pulaski, managed the drive from Massachusetts in the snow. Other participants in the Ceremony included Sam Stanton, Sr. Janice McLaughlin (President, Congregation), Rev. Ed Dougherty, (Superior General, Society), Ann Carr (President, Board of Directors, Maryknoll Affiliates), and the Mission Services Department Staff.  Chris Reilly, Music Director for the Society, led the music.
The new missioners have returned to their homes for the Holidays. They will leave for their respective mission assignments in Cambodia, Tanzania, Bolivia and El Salvador in the first days of January.
