Debbie Northern, a returned Maryknoll Lay Missioner who served in Tanzania and El Salvador, was recently highlighted in this article from the Longwood University alumni magazine, On Point. The piece chronicles her journey from English major and editor, to campus minister, to lay missioner to her current role as training and educational programs manager at Maryknoll Lay Missioners. In the article, Debbie aptly describes our organization’s work: “Our mission is not to proselytize, but to serve the poor.”
