Maryknoll Lay Missioners wants to give thanks to God for the ministry of Bishop John Edward McCarthy on the 60th anniversary of his ordination as a priest. Bishop John has often been referred to as the “mission bishop”. Throughout his priestly life and as bishop first as auxiliary in Houston and then as ordinary in Austin, TX he has been an articulate and tireless advocate of mission and the call of the laity to service and mission as a vocation.
