Pole pole ndiyo mwendo. “Slowly, slowly is the way we go.” For people in Tanzania, life is about relationships.

Maryknoll Lay Missioners’ mission immersion program Friends Across Borders invites you to experience the realities of life in East Africa firsthand.

Maryknoll Lay Missioners has worked in Tanzania since 1976. On this trip, you will learn about the joys and challenges of the local community and experience life through the lens of Maryknoll lay missioners who have been serving in mission in Tanzania for many years.

Our missioners will be your guides through this immersion experience that will connect you with the Tanzanian people and transform your heart.

We will also visit the Serengeti National Park for a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife safari! Tanzania is said to have the largest concentration of wild animals per square mile in the world.
