We are delighted that on Dec. 8 and Dec. 11, 2021, we will bless and send into mission 13 new Maryknoll lay missioners. Coming from 10 different states, this year’s class, Maryknoll Lay Missioners’ largest since 2005, will serve in six different countries. On Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m., the candidates will sign a “Covenant” that will commit them to mission as members of Maryknoll Lay Missioners.
On Saturday, Dec. 11, at 2:30 p.m., they will be sent forth into mission. The heads of all four Maryknoll entities (Maryknoll Sisters, Maryknoll Lay Missioners, Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, and Maryknoll Affiliates) will participate in the Sending celebration in the Chapel of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers in Ossining, New York.
Compelled by faith to engage with people across cultures and ethnicities, Maryknoll lay missioners live, love and work with communities on the margins to promote active nonviolence and healing.
