“For Jesus, there are no countries to be conquered, no ideologies to be imposed,
no people to be dominated. There are only children, women and men to be loved.”
— Henri Nouwen
Dear friends,
I am now marking my 20th year in mission. I arrived in Kenya in January 2001, and my first ministry assignment was to the St. Martin’s School in a Nairobi slum. A photo from those days with some of the students is above. These students would all now be adults, hopefully leading productive and fulfilling lives.
My mission journey then led me to be the project manager of the St. John Bosco Children’s Centre in western Kenya. After 11 years at the helm, I handed over the project to two local women. The center continues to help many extremely disadvantaged children and youth.

The next stop on my mission journey was Phnom Penh, Cambodia. For the last four years, I have served as the finance manager at the Maryknoll Deaf Development Programme. The photo at left is of a graduation ceremony for our most recent deaf job-training students.
Thank you for your support and encouragement over the last 20 years.
Yours in Christ,
Russ Brine
Hongera…Congratulations Russ for 20 years! I had the privilege to work with you in Kitale Kenya and to witness your care and compassion, especially for children. I know of many who received the love of Jesus through you. Keep going!!!
